One Heck of a time at the Farmers Market
Hey everyone!
I'm Alexis Gray and this is my new blog. In case you're wondering, my blog is about all the adventures I have over the weekend going to events, fairs, concerts, and clubs. I also take pictures everywhere I go and who knows, maybe you'll pop up in one.
Everyone loves the weekends and I myself love going out and seeing what's going on in this wonderful city of ours. Most people who don't live in Reno ask me, 'Reno? What do you do in Reno?'
Well believe it or not but there are tons of things to do here and I'll let you know all about the best and even worst events here in fabulous Reno, NV.
The people make a city what it is and if you know Reno, you know that there are tons of interesting people; some more interesting in other ways-but hey that's what makes life exciting.
On Thursday I ventured to the Sparks Hometown Farmers Market, a gathering of food, music, drinks and all around great social scene for people of every age. It goes on every Thursday evening until August 24th in Victorian Square in Sparks.
It was my first time this summer and also my first time as a member of the adult world. No more hanging around outside the margarita stands scheming up excuses of why I didn't have my I.D, I could get a drink without having to look over my shoulder for chances of being caught.
Anyway, the sunny afternoon at the Farmers Market provided a terrific ambiance of dads dancing with their kids, sexy frozen chocolate bananas and of course mouth watering fried chicken.
There are so many different things to do at the Farmers Market; Fresh kettle corn brought to you by Hillbilly Kettle corn had a busy line of customers most of the evening.
Happy girlfriends embraced their quick thinking boyfriends who bought them bouquets of unique flowers at "Jessie's Magical Charm" flowers from Sutter, California.
While talking to the owner Adrian Perez and Richard Drath about their passion for their flowers, I overheard a little girl talking to her friend. The girl looked about ten years old, her shirt perhaps too mature for her age. She gave her little friend a dirty look and said, "I don't get flowers like these from boys, I get roses!"
Damn, I thought, when I have kids I'm keeping both eyes out for them.
Folks were totally licking their chops at M&M's Fish and Chicken Shack, the only southern fried soul food restaurant in Reno. Mitch Moore and Ashley Florez served locals with welcoming smiles. The locals, including my hungry self, couldn't get enough of the fried chicken, fried catfish and the most popular item-fried alligator.
It's wonderful to have M&M's here in Reno. I'm originally from Vegas and deeply miss my dad's southern cooking, so with M&M's here it's like a home away from home.
One of the most adorable sights I saw at the Farmer's Market was Kristy Middleton and her four-year-old daughter Lexi playing on the grass. Now being mixed myself I love seeing little mixed kids because they remind me of my youth. Not only was this adorable little girl mixed and wore her hair like I once did but her name was also Lexi. What are the chances, honestly?
I had to get their picture and almost wanted to take Lexi with me, but no rush I can wait to have kids.
So that was my experience this week at the Farmer's Market, I suggest you go because it's a wonderful way to get fresh produce, fun crafts for kids, great for socializing and maybe even find the love of your life? Maybe not but you never know unless you check it out!
